Attention home educators!
• Would you like your students to experience their government in a real-life, hands-on way?
• Do you want help ensure that homeschoolers are known and recognized at the capitol?
• Are you interested in building relationships with senators, representatives, and other state officials?
The IAHE’s legislative team works year round to protect the freedoms of home educators in Indiana. But we need your help. On Tuesday, February 25, from 11 am to 1:30 pm (set-up at 10:30) the IAHE is hosting a Legislative Day reception at the Capitol Building in Indianapolis. All Indiana state representatives and senators, the governor, and other elected officials are invited to come to the atrium and meet and see home educated students with their organizational displays. Dessert is being served for them, and the IAHE will be giving them educational information on homeschooling. This event is important to make our legislators—democrats and republicans—see the value of home education and the opportunities and involvement of home educated students.
We want YOU and your home school or homeschooling organization to come display the excellence of Indiana homeschooling!
Examples of the types of displays we need are homeschool forensics, 4-H, honor society, classical education, rocketry, chess, orchestra, choir, theater, co-op, or other clubs or groups. In the atrium, you will be provided a 4 foot table space with a white tablecloth. You need to bring a 48 x 36-inch tri-fold display board, with a solid white, black, or blue back. You can put other items on your table area. Displays must be attended by an adult at all times. Students must be 10 years old or above and everyone must be privately home educated. The dress is professional. More information is provided on our website.
We need a total of 15 displays signed-up by January 15, 2014. You can find the form to sign up for a display by logging in to this website or creating a log-in/account if you do not already have one.
